Japan Disaster Recovery Fund

This is my report of 2011 JULY-2012 DEC Rotary Japan Disaster Recovery Fund Committee. The amount of contributions to Rotary East Japan Earthquake revival to 2012 NOV. : US$8,413,513.80 The amount of donation directly sent from other district and clubs : US$26,243,556.00 These are mainly Japanese districts or clubs, and a few of international twin districts or clubs. The total number of programs already practiced in Japan : 185.  The amount of used money : US$32,804,445.00. Six members of the committee and 2 young office workers are all rotary volunteers entirely. Each members paid own transportation expenses, meeting place costs, and coffee charges at the every-month meeting. Each member often visited the stricken areas separately by own expenses. Russian condolences for the Hurricane

Dear Raykhana and Leonid, Thank you very much for your kind e-mail. We all appreciate your efforts and condolences for the people on the East Coast who have such a terrible situation with Hurricane Sandy. I was in New York City from Thursday November 1 until Tuesday November 6. I attended the Rotary Day at the United Nations on Saturday, November 3. While I was there I met several Rotary District Governors from various districts affected by Hurricane Sandy.  They were all in need of many supplies and money.  Many are also establishing Foundations to receive money to help. Jim Kushner is in the middle of the Rockaway Inferno! He needs our help!

I told you about Rotary “Service Above Self” Recipient Jim Kushner and how he and his friend Ted Honocharik distributed gas in Hoboken, NJ and Staten Island. Jim is now in Rockaway, Queens, helping 1,500 victims of Hurricane Sandy. He needs help with the following: Gasoline Red Carry Cans 10W 30 Four Cycle motor oil for generators that are working full blast and overtime. They also need non perishable food. The favorite food is tuna fish and peanut butter. SANDY RELIEF IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY

Dear Friends throughout the Rotary world and beyond… It has now been almost a week since Hurricane Sandy attacked New Jersey and New York.  All of the six District governors in the area whose Districts were most affected  have been in contact with one another, and I would like to give you an update on what has happened to each of our areas, as well as a list of both immediate and long-term needs as we know them now. Update from NYC & Hurricane Disaster, Report 2

Hi Rotarians and friends: Dateline: New York, Friday November 2, 2012 They say that if you get handed a lemon, then have a positive attitude and make lemonade. So that is what we have been doing the last couple of days here in New York, since some of our meetings have been either postponed or cancelled. With vehicle restrictions and media reports keeping people away, visitor activity is lower than normal. That means we have enjoyed great prices on Broadway shows, such as Jersey Boys @ $27. and Phantom @ $40. Summary of Activities Related to the Donor Advised Fund for Haiti Earthquake Relief

On Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 4:57 pm a devastating 7.0 earthquake ravaged Haiti at the centre of population, Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas.  The effects were felt throughout the country and resulted in an estimated 316,000 deaths, 1.2 million more homeless, now in tents, and 400,000 more orphans. Rotarians in District 7020 stepped up within hours to aid due to the Satellite phone system that was part of their Disaster Preparedness Program.  Coordinated by PDG Richard McCombe 169 flights were sent in with supplies as designated by Dr. Claude Surena, Chair of Disaster Relief in Haiti and for Rotary, and other Rotarians in Haiti.  Also containers of supplies were sent in.   The Rotarians in the 19 Rotary Clubs in Haiti are to be commended for
